Contrast Between Sean Payton and Mayor Nagin

From Clancy DuBos.

"If anything, Sean Payton and Ray Nagin are a study in contrasts -- in terms of both performance and style. Nagin promised big changes but delivered meagerly. To get re-elected, he divided us rather than inspiring us.... Ray Nagin cannot borrow a page from Sean Payton's book. He wouldn't know how to read it."

James Gill on Eddie Jordan

James Gill is not a big fan of Eddie Jordan. "Eddie Jordan has always found it difficult to reach a decision except for when he fired all the white folks shortly after he was elected DA." "If we don't have a new DA after the next election, the criminal justice system will remain in paralysis, and the phones will be ringing off the hook at the moving companies."

Two More Morial Cronies Plead Guilty

Two more friends of former Mayor Marc Morial have pled guilty to corruption charges. Restauranteur Stan "Pampy" Barre and Kerry Decay, the city's former director of property management, pled guilty on Sunday morning. They looted a massive energy savings contract that Morial awarded just before leaving office. Everyone has been focusing on the fraud involved in the contracting process, but I have not seen much interest in the contract itself to see what if any energy savings the city received for the millions of dollars paid. My bet is the entire contract was a scam designed solely to enrich the Mayor and his friends and that the energy savings, if any, are minimal.

Former Mayor Marc Morial's former associates and administrators, facing federal corruption charges, have subpoenaed the Morial to testify at this month's trial. It is extremely unlikely that Morial will appear, but if so, will he testify or take the Fifth?
